Beach And Writing

Kids in the ocean on the Tybee Island Beach.

Not far past Savannah, Georgia, you will find Tybee Island. It is a magical place filled with turtles, sand, and beautiful water. I brought my Dad and children to Tybee when the kids were little (toddlers), and it is a different experience now that the kids are self-sufficient (tween/teen).

Tybee has been a wonderful place to sit and write. I found a little swing far back on the beach, where I settled in with my iPad. As you can see by the current word count, I surpassed my half-way point. I celebrated each ten-thousand mark as a personal accomplishment, but reaching 40,000 felt like a true milestone.

I believe I have amazing main characters, who are carrying the story well. I also have other characters that create connections, humor, and chaos. I might be settling into this author thing. I’m still trying to wrap my head around the concept of publishing, but I am getting there.

I want to post another snippet of text from the book, but it is getting harder without you (the blog reader) knowing the characters or situation. Maybe, this one will work…humm…I wonder who they are talking about. Please remember that I am writing as the information comes to me without editing much. I will go back through and edit (many, many times) once I am finished with the book. In other words, pardon odd phrases, redundant words, and present/past tense issues.

Crab Shack, Tybee Island Georgia

One of the other parts of being on a beach is seafood. Living in a landlocked state like Colorado, it is very hard (not impossible) to get amazing fresh seafood. I remembered The Crab Shack from the previous time we came to Tybee and they did not disappoint during this visit.

Amazing Crab Shack food!
