Going into the new year I wanted to set some year-long goals for myself. This is not a resolution to be tossed away by the end of January, but guidelines to help progress as an author. When I chose the goals, I needed to look at all aspects of my author life. So, I added items about tracking writing/editing, researching other authors/techniques, and reading for pleasure. This is what I came up with:
- Read 2 grammar books
- Research/join writer’s groups/organizations
- Analyze writing/editing time
- Research writing habits of 12 writers
- Research/document plotting books
- Read 2 books on improving writing
- Publish 3 books in 2023
- Document editing journey
- Think about novella for Divine Land of Illur Series
- Develop monthly writing/editing schedule
- Take 2 classes or read books on marketing
- Read 23 books for pleasure
I printed multiple copies. One lives on my desk, so I cannot help but see it almost everyday. Another is tucked into my planner for easy access. I believe all of the tasks are achievable. Although, I am a little nervous about getting 3 books ready for publication this year.
