NaNoWriMo

November 1, 2022 - 2,115 words - NaNoWriMo Day 1

Yesterday was the first day of the National Novel Writing Month. The goal of NaNoWriMo is to write 50,000 words by the end of November. If you do the math (50000/30), this means I need to write at least 1,666 words per day to achieve the goal. This seems like something I can accomplish, and it helps that so many authors are doing the same challenge. Daily encouragement via social media is abundant.

I thought NaNoWriMo would be a great way to get book 3 back on track. My last blog post was in June and craziness (both good and bad) has occurred since then. I traveled more in August – October than I have in the last 5 years. I am trying to settle into a new routine of being a full-time writer, which is a dream. It is also a lot of pressure!

Without giving too much away, I am doing something a little different in book 3. I mentioned this in the previous post, and I will stand beside my decision to make it a well-kept secret. I wanted to report that I still like the change. This is good, since I am a little over 20,000 words into the book now.

My word-count was a surprise when I started writing again. The memory of previous writing was more prolific than reality. I thought I was nearly half-way finished. Well, that is not the case. Hopefully, by the end of the month, I can report a total word-count of 70,000 words.
