Slow Going

To say things are slow going is actually being quite kind to myself. It is halting…then a bit of progress…halting again…then a little more progress. School has started back and my role has temporarily altered. I am working through the change by doing what I can on the weekends. My timeline for editing is out the window, but it is fine. As long as I get some time each week to chip-away at it, I will be happy.

I am pleased with what I have read/edited so far. There are specific sequences that I think will take people by surprise. It makes me smile to think about it. I want to keep the momentum of new interesting elements while staying true to the heart of the story.

I am keeping a positive attitude about working through this book and trying to enjoy the process. It is different this time around, because I know what to expect. I definitely did not have any publishing knowledge when writing Rescuers From Ilur, so I feel more confident in the path I am taking. Steps going forward: edit the 53,000 words already written, write the rest of the book, edit, edit, beta readers, edit, editor, edit, book interior design for the paperback, book cover, book interior design for the ebook, prep audiobook, final edit, audio recording, edit audio, market the book, publish, and ongoing marketing.

“What was your dream?” I looked up into the woman’s face as she spoke. I did not know her. I couldn’t even remember her name. Why was I here?
