Snowy Day Writing

Countdown to Publication: 4 months & 21 days

frozen bubble that has collapsed into itself

I accomplished a lot over the last few weeks, but there is still so much to do. Day-job work has taken up much of my time, but I was able to shift some focus towards the eBook. It is not finished, but very close. I took care of anchoring images, removing printed book settings like tracking, and added an eBook table of contents. Currently, I am working on font issues including turning Wingding font flourishes into images. I will also need to validate the ePub file once finished.

I made adjustments to the website. An email catchall was necessary, so I added a subscribe blurb to the front page. You can also find the subscribe link at the top of any page, just in case a reader enters the website via a blog page. This is important, because it creates a direct link between the author and readers. With the email info, I can provide updates, freebies, and direct marketing.

I’ve been dragging my feet about social media. I know how bad that is, but I haven’t been able to bridge the gap between this blog and Instagram/Twitter or anything else. Every time I create a blog post, I think about how I can change part of the info into a tweet, but I don’t follow-through. What is especially frustrating is that I know how to work with social media. I have sort-of-successful TikTok and Instagram accounts relating to lace making. Somehow I created a block in my mind when it comes to an author social media posts.

I created a 2nd TikTok account, specifically for the topic of being an author. It is important for content creators on TikTok to have a niche or specific purpose on the platform. Specialized videos allow the TikTok algorithm to know who should see the videos on their FYP (for you page). No videos have been posted yet, but I am following authors and bookTok folks. Wish me luck in finding things to post on the account.

The first crocus of the year, soon to be covered in snow.
